Many hands make light work at Burke Lake Cleanup

On Saturday, May 2nd the Burke Lake Restoration Committee, alongside local volunteers, worked at the lake to pick up sticks and fallen trees in preparation for mowing. The group was grateful to hear that the Burke VFW had been there earlier to pick up trash, and was able to make quick work of the pickup. Keeping the lake area clean is not only beneficial to the beauty of the lake, but is also extremely helpful to South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, who mow the area. When the area is clean, the workers do not have to stop while mowing. The group ended the cleanup by enjoying the beautiful view and fishing.

    LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor, I am writing to express my strong support for Mykala Voita, who stands out for her genuine faith in Jesus Christ and her commitment to protecting our constitutional rights. Mykala has served our district with integrity and conviction, upholding important principles as a devoted wife and mother and bringing her family values to her work.

    LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor, In June 2024, South Dakota voters shocked the nation by replacing 12 of the individuals who voted to pass SB201. Among those elected was Mykala Voita, who defeated incumbent Senator Erin Tobin to represent District 21. Since taking office in January 2025, Senator Voita has been delivering incredible results for our families and conservative values. I want to highlight the strong accomplishments of our state Senator, Mykala Voita, during her first term in the 2025 and 2026 legislative sessions.

    LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor, My name is Ben Krohmer and I’m a former State Representative from Mitchell and your neighboring legislative district. I want to write you today to tell you about my time working with Representative Marty Overweg in the State House of Representatives. I was elected during the 2022 election, and it was my one and only term serving in the State Legislature after choosing not to run for re-election. As someone going into their first term it can be a bit daunting, but fortunately for me, I was lucky enough to have Representative Marty Overweg as my seatmate in the House. Having Marty as a seatmate was extremely valuable for a first-timer, like myself. Marty has been someone I have always been able to look to for guidance, he was an outstanding teacher of the legislative process, a true professional and mentor, working tirelessly for the people he represents, never caving to pressure, and remaining steadfast to conservative values.
