We might not have had snow for Christmas this year, but the morning of Christmas Eve gave us a “white Christmas” nonetheless. After overnight fog, a blanket of frost covered the area on Tuesday morning.

Sewer back-up claims likely to be decided by insurance companies

During public forum at the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Alice Slade presented estimates to repair damages to her home caused by a sewer backup. Arguing that she did nothing wrong, she believes the city is responsible for the damage since the city’s insurance denied the claim. She gave the city a deadline of January 10, 2025, to let her know their plan to proceed, or she will turn the matter over to her attorney.

Shearing day marks a season of tradition for the Smith family

After nearly 23 years of raising alpacas, Greg and Sandy Smith say the happiest day of the year is shearing day. They normally shear at the end of May, near Memorial Day. “The animals don’t necessarily enjoy the process of being sheared, but are happy, and cooler, when it’s done,” says Greg.
