Recently, People magazine posted an article discussing the “correct time” to serve the Thanksgiving meal. The discussion stemmed from a 2018 article in The Atlantic that weighed factors such as tradition, etiquette, cook and rest time for the turkey, as well as eating, digesting, napping, and late-night snacks.

Over the River and Through the Woods was originally about Thanksgiving

At one time, “Over the River and Through the Wood” was a favorite song of the Thanksgiving season, but it has now come to be associated with Christmas. This is possibly because the song mentions traveling through snow, though it could also be a result of the Christmas season’s encroachment on Thanksgiving.

Patriot’s Pen Essay Writing Competition sponsored by the Burke VFW Auxiliary has recently been completed and essays judged. The winners, all from the Burke sixth grade class, were announced: Taylor Zeisler-1st place, Sarah Spann-2nd place, and Emerson Swan-3rd place.
