I am back from the also dry North. However, conditions at my home location were better than expected because of early August rains. Or as a friend put it, one end of the field was often different from the other. A lot of crop was baled because cattle feed is so scarce and valuable.

A Note From Cottonwood Corners

Edward L. Senn, editor of the Pioneer, a weekly newspaper published in Iona since early 1901 had been denouncing the cattle rustlers and demanding that they be brought to justice. Because of his strong and persistent pleas for law and order, he had made himself so obnoxious to the thieves that they decided to show their hatred for him.

City tax revenues up 9% over 2020

The regular meeting of the Gregory City Council was held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2021, at City Hall. There’s a new lawman in town Chief of Police Doug Catts introduced Dean Rivers to the council.

Merrill McFayden and daughter Alisa honored at state Grand Lodge Session

Merrill McFayden was honored at the 145th IOOF Grand Lodge Session the weekend of September 18-19, 2021, when he was initiated as the State Grand Master. At the same meeting, his daughter, Alisa Schmitz, was appointed as State Herald in addition to receiving a Special Recognition Award from the Sovereign Grand Warden, who is from PA.

Homecoming royalty crowned Monday evening

Christian Spann and Gracie Kenzy were crowned Homecoming king and queen at the coronation ceremony Monday evening, October 4, at Gregory Memorial Auditorium. Coy Determan and Emma Thomas were the runnersup. Milly Meyer and Jace Beck were the crown bearers.
