A funeral service for Barb Doty will be held August 12, 2023, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Hudson, WI. Cremation Society of Wisconsin in Altoona, WI, is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara “Barb” Velma Doty, age 82 of Hudson, WI, passed away in her home on Sunday, July 16, 2023. Barb was born on December 15, 1940, to Gustav and Ida Martin at their home near Carlock, SD, and graduated from Burke High School in 1958.

Barb married Charles “Charlie” Doty on November 21, 1964. Barb gave birth to Kelsie in MPLS. After a short stay in Cottage Grove, MN, and a move to Hudson, WI, Alan was born.

Barb focused on raising the family for many years before she returned to work. She was an office manager for an insurance agent, then was a transcriptionist at Hudson Memorial Hospital. She later worked as a transcriptionist for psychiatrists at UW River Falls and St. Croix Psychiatric Services.

Barb enjoyed people and traveling - visiting Hawaii, Alaska, and many places coast to coast. She and Charlie enjoyed their retirement and eventually purchased 20 acres near Rodeo NM. The Boot Heel of NM became home base during the winter for many years. Barb loved the sunshine and warmth but mostly making many great friends.

Barb was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Hudson, WI, since its inception in the 70s. She was a skilled ornamental gardener and enjoyed dancing, the ladies’ golf group, and socializing of any kind.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Gustav and Ida Martin, brother Lawrence Martin, sisters Ellen Noziska, Elaine Berendes, and Marie Swanson, and many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband Charles T.; sister Ruth Page; brother Ray Martin; daughter Kelsie; son Alan; daughter-in-law Tammy; grandchildren Alexandria, Megan, Jessie, and Austin Doty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2020 and fought the disease vigorously to the very end. Simultaneously, she “dealt with” complicating heart conditions.
