Cody Ray Vosika was born on May 7, 1984, in Burke, SD, to Rick and Lori (Frey) Vosika. He was baptized in the Gregory United Methodist Church. Cody attended school all 13 years in Gregory, graduating in 2002.
Cody was a lifelong farmer/rancher, starting as a young boy helping milk cows and rake hay. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do from mechanic work, welding, concrete work, to helping his mom with anything when she called. You name it, he was there to help anybody.
On December 9, 2006, Cody was united in marriage to Melissa Peppel. To this union two children were born: Brecken Rae and Austin Lyle. Cody was always involved in his kids’ activities and helping with them when he could.
When Cody wasn’t farming or following his kids’ activities, you could find him enjoying his passion for hunting, whether it was hunting geese, deer, or coyotes with his fellow buddies.
He also enjoyed spending time at the river camping and pontooning with his family and friends. Over the last few years, the family made a yearly adventure to the South Dakota State Fair over Labor Day when the kids would show their exhibits. It was one of the many highlights throughout the year. Another highlight was watching his nephew, Jordan, race in Wagner on Friday nights.
Cody passed away unexpectedly at home on December 16, 2021, at the age of 37 years.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Melissa; daughter, Brecken; son, Austin; mother, Lori Lindwurm; step-father, Glen Lindwurm; brother, Justin Vosika (Callie Beck); father-in-law, Tim (Juli) Peppel; mother-in-law, Lori (Dan) Vanden Bos; brother-in-law, Mitch (Valerie) Peppel; aunt, Dana (Ken) Anderson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
