Funeral services for Destiny Sund were held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Winner, SD, with Pastor Maurice Gustafson officiating.

Music was provided by Renee Holzer, pianist. Barb Watzel and Kristen Wetzel were in charge of registration, and flower attendants were Colleen Kartka and Joan Brickman.

Casket bearers were Charlie Bortz, Kevin Watzel, Dean Watzel, Brian Keszler, Daniel Keszler and Clifford Keszler. Honorary casket bearers were Destiny’s classmates.

Interment was in the Colome City Cemetery in Colome, SD. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Destiny Rose Sund was born January 8, 2008, in Yankton, SD, to Scott Sund and Amanda (Keszler) Myer.

Destiny lived in the Winner/Colome area and attended Colome Middle School.

Growing up, Destiny enjoyed cooking, drawing, archery, swimming, anime, nightly video chats with her Aunt Shawna, video games, and beating her dad at Uno. Destiny also enjoyed spending time in the hills with her grandma Lorinda, grandpa Larry, aunt Shawna, uncle David, and cousins Adrian and Robert. She loved her dad’s girlfriend Crystal, and her new brother and sister, Sam and Makayla. Destiny loved her best friend/sister Savanah; they talked every day, and were inseparable. She enjoyed farm life and wanted to raise chickens.

Destiny loved spending time with family and friends, making new memories, and visiting her grandfather Alvin Keszler and great-grandmother Viola Keszler. She enjoyed helping her great-grandmother when she was at the farm visiting them.

She loved cooking with her mom and learning different ways of cooking, and learned how to make homemade candies with her former stepmom Joan Brickman.

Destiny passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 27, 2022, at the age of 14.

She is survived by her father Scott (Crystal) Sund; her mother Amanda (Jim) Myer; brother Dustin Sund; aunt Shawna (David) Rogers; uncles Brian (Suzanne) Keszler, Clifford Keszler, and Daniel Keszler; step-brother Samuel Brandsgaard; step-sister Makayla Chambers; great-grandmother Viola Keszler; grandparents Lorinda Sund, Tammie and Danny Wendt, Alvin Keszler, and Lorraine Keszler; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Destiny is preceded in death by her grandfather Larry Sund; greatgrandfather Vern Keszler; great-grandfather Wayne Bortz; greatgrandmother Mable Bortz; great-grandmother Ethel O’Bryan; greatgrandfather Patrick (Pat) O’Bryan; and great-grandparents Elden and Ruth Sund and Christina and Morris Steele.
