Funeral services for Doler Hansen were held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD, with Pastor Royal Archer officiating. Casket bearers were Jeremy Hanson, Meagan Schlecht, Samantha Pfingsten, Lucas Hanson, Klint Hanson, and Kinsie Kruger. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Doler Dean Hanson was born in Burke, SD, on June 19, 1934, to Helmer and Alice Hanson. He was born the youngest of three children and was raised on the family farm east of Burke. He attended country school and graduated from Burke High School in 1953. After graduating from high school, he continued the family farm and worked for various construction companies. He married Yvonne (Bonnie) Fredericksen on October 3, 1954. To this union, three sons were born.

During his professional career he worked on projects including the Oahe Dam, Big Bend Dam, and the Platte-Winner Bridge, from start to finish. He also was Gregory County Highway Superintendent of roads before he started at the Pine Ridge Job Corp in Chadron, NE, in 1973. There he was a national carpentry instructor until his retirement in September of 1995. After retirement, he and Bonnie became snowbirds, traveling the southern states, and then settled in Castle Rock Shores RV Park near Parker, AZ, through February of 2023. They made many new friends, and enjoyed listening to country music jam sessions.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed sharing his love of fishing, hunting, and golfing with his family. They enjoyed their summer home on the shore of Angostura Lake in southwest South Dakota. They looked forward to spending time in Burke, which they always considered home. He cherished spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bonnie, of Chadron, NE; children: Rick (Jolene) Hanson of Piedmont, SD, Randie (LaVonne) Hanson of Chadron, NE, and Rod (Cyd) Hanson of Chappell, NE; grandchildren: Jeremy (Ashley) Hanson, Meagan (Justin) Schlecht, Klint (Kailie) Hanson, Kinsie (Kyle) Kruger, Samantha (Kolbe) Pfingsten, and Lucas (Sierra) Hanson; and16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Helmer and Alice Hanson, brother Donald (Jessie) Hanson, and sister Darlene (Albert) Adam.
