Funeral services for Dorothy Moor were held on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bonesteel, SD, with Pastor Samuel Crass officiating.
Music was provided by Linda Raasch, organist. Casket bearers were Vernon Klein, Blair Lindwurm, Ron Kahler, Brad Lindwurm, Kelly Lindwurm, and Dean Lindwurm. Interment was in the Rosebud Cemetery in Bonesteel, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Dorothy Marie Moor was born February 10, 1928, southeast of Gregory, SD, Lone Star Township, to Carl George and Bertha (Hasche) Lindwurm.
Dorothy was baptized on February 26, 1928, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church near Carlock, SD. She was confirmed June 20, 1943, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burke, SD. She attended Pleasant Site rural school through the eighth grade. This was one mile north of the Lindwurm farm. Her father died in a farming accident during the summer after her eighth grade graduation. She then began doing house work for neighbors to earn income for the family, and also at home. At the age of 22, she was united in marriage to Edward G. Moor on November 26, 1950, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church near Carlock.
Ed and Dorothy lived their married life on a farm one mile south of St. Charles, SD, until Ed’s death on September 10, 1982. In December of 1982, Dorothy moved to Burke, SD. While living in Burke, she cleaned the Burke Community Room as well as for other people. She was known for her caramel rolls and caramel popcorn. On January 8, 2011 she moved to the Haisch Haus Assisted Living in Bonesteel, SD. She resided there until December 19, 2022, when she entered the Butte Healthcare Center in Butte, NE.
She passed away on March 19, 2023, at the Butte Healthcare Center in Butte, NE, at the age of 95 years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; her four sisters: Irene (Bill) Koch, Alma (Art) Kahler, Louise (Edward) Kahler, and Mildred (Rudy) Klein; two brothers: Ray Lindwurm and Lester Lindwurm; sister- in-law Hildegard (John) Lindwurm; and one brother-in-law, Hank (Betty) Moor.
Dorothy is survived by her three sons: John Moor of Bonesteel, SD; Harlan Moor of Mitchell, SD; and Marvin (Debra) Moor of Kadoka, SD; three grandsons: Matthew Moor of Cedar Rapids, IA; Mitchell Moor of Pierre, SD; and Marcus (Misty) Moor of Kansas City, MO; two greatgrandchildren; four brothers: Walter (Glenis) Lindwurm, Ken (Myrna) Lindwurm, Norman (Arlette) Lindwurm, and Norbert (Sue) Lindwurm; sister-in-law Ann Lindwurm; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
