Funeral Mass for James Larkin was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ottumwa, IA, with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. Reece Funeral Home of Ottumwa, IA, was in charge of arrangements. James was born on March 20, 1950, in Ottumwa, IA, to Joseph and Gertrude Rowland Larkin. Jim was a 1968 graduate of Blakesburg High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. He taught high school math and chemistry in Gregory, SD. He was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gregory, SD, and was a member of Council #1532 Knights of Columbus in Gregory, SD. Jim enjoyed drawing and arts and crafts.
James Joseph Larkin, 72, formerly of Gregory, SD, died on August 23, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington, IA.
Surviving are his brothers, Richard (Linda) Larkin of Fort Madison, IA, and Thomas (Joyce Bernardy) Larkin of Coralville, IA; a niece, Laura White; nephews, Nick Larkin and Joe Larkin; and numerous greatnieces and great-nephews.
