Funeral services for Jean Bailey were held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bonesteel, SD, with Father Jonathan Dillon officiating. Ava Hausmann and Emmie Hausmann were servers and Bob Hausmann, Jr. was lector.
Music was provided by the Immaculate Conception Church choir and Carla Schmitz was in charge of registration.
Interment was in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bonesteel, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jean died August 22, 2021, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, after a short bout with cancer at the age of 81 years.
Jean was married to Tom Bailey on December 17, 1960 and lived on the family ranch raising cattle north of Bonesteel for many years where she worked alongside her husband until they retired from ranching in 2001. They raised two daughters, Janet and Diane.
Jean had spent almost two years living at the Haisch Haus until her final illness.
Jean Anne Bailey was born December 3, 1939, at Burke, SD, to John and Selma (Schroer) Leibel.
Jean is survived by her husband Tom of Bonesteel and her daughter Diane (John) McConnell and two grandsons, Andrew McConnell and Matthew McConnell all of San Antonio, TX; her sister-in-law Deb Leibel and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her daughter Janet: her parents John and Selma Leibel: her brothers Robert Leibel, Wayne Leibel, and Kenneth (Butch) Leibel and her sister Pauline Elliott.
