Jon Dyer was born to Orin and Agnes Dyer on September 7, 1936.

Jon was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and following his military career, he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and worked for 20 years for Lucent Technologies.

He was an active member of the VFW and, an avid coin collector, and a member of the National Numismatic Society, and the Rosebud Coin Club. He was a life-ong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout (with clusters). A lover of classical music, he was a world-traveler and lived in Europe and Asia, as well as the east and west coasts, finally settling in Colorado, Nebraska, and then South Dakota. He had an appreciation for both outdoor and cultural activities - hunting, fishing, and camping, as well as museums, music, and art. A kind and generous man, his greatest treasures were family, friends, and community, and to that end, as a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, he ensured his history - and the history of his family - was archived and documented through photography - yet another avenue he was passionate about - and narrative.
