Karter Cournoyer

Funeral services for Karter Cournoyer were held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bonesteel City Hall in Bonesteel, SD, with Pastor Russ Grim officiating.

Flower attendants were Jadyx Charging Hawk, Jalicia Leighton, Heaven Bad Horse, Addie Bruguier, Alicia Garcia, Tomi Whipple and Selena Whipple.

Pallbearers were Larry Charging Hawk, John Jandreau, Jr., Aiden Garcia and Brian Chasing Hawk. Honorary pallbearers were Lonna Andrews, Tiffany Whipple, Gage Cournoyer, Lisa Cournoyer, Sterling Bad Horse Jr., Marcus Bad Horse, Rudy Cournoyer, Michelle Medicine Bear, Isabella Menkens, Noah Menkens, Shirley Old Lodge, Rita Carlsen, Winifred Andrews, Denise Wright, Drew Harold, Marlene Cournoyer, Millie Crow Good Voice, Jerald Miner, Donovan Charging Hawk, and all of the other relatives and friends.

Interment was in the Ponca Creek UCC Cemtery in St. Charles, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Karter Rames Cournoyer was born December 3, 2020 at Yankton, SD, to Kierstin Charging Hawk and Thurman Cournoyer III. Karter has two siblings: his older sister Paisley and his big brother Thurman IV aka Leo.

Karter Rames had a very special bond with his grandpas Thurman Jr. and “Papa Todd” along with his great-grandpa Thurman, Sr. Karter passed away at the early age of 10 months old. Karter is survived by his parents Kierstin and Thurman III; siblings, Paisley and Thurman IV; aunts and uncles. He is also survived by both grandpas Todd Charging Hawk and Thurman Cournoyer, Jr.; his greatgrandmas Wanda “Jeanne” Miner and Letha Sanchez; great-grandpas Thurman Cournoyer, Sr. and Gerald Charging Hawk and Louis Hare, Sr.

Karter was preceded in death by his grandmas Darlene Four Horns and Leslie (Hare) Charging Hawk; great-grandmas Alemeda Lapointe, Mavis Cournoyer, Darlene Yellow Hawk-Cournoyer; his grandpas Glen LaPointe, Sr. and Kevin Andrews; as well as his great-great-grandmother Josephine LaPointe.
