Funeral services for Lloyd Wiedmann were held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory, SD, with Rev. Marcus Ring officiating. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home of Gregory, SD, was in charge of arrangements.
Lloyd Oron Wiedmann was born July 1, 1935, on his parent’s farm near Dixon, SD. He lived there with them and his brother Happy until his health required him to move into the Gregory Avera Rosebud Country Care Center in January 2022. He resided there until his passing on January 28, 2023. He is now free from pain and suffering.
Lloyd enjoyed playing checkers and played many games with his brother, Happy, and others in tournaments. He was an avid boxing fan, watching them on television with his dad and brother. He enjoyed watching baseball games and listening to them on the radio.
Lloyd was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dixon, SD. After its closing, he became a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Winner, SD, and at the time of his passing, was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory, SD.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Irene Wiedmann, and brothers Larry and Lowell Wiedmann.
He is survived by his brother Happy Wiedmann of Dixon, SD; sister Bonnie Reinke (Eldean) of Neligh, NE; sister-in-law Janet (Vern) Wiedmann Green of Gregory, SD; nieces: Lynn DeHaan (Galen) of Dover Plains, NY, Carol Boies (Kevin) of Glenrock, WY, Lisa Petersen (Bill) of Mitchell, SD, and Rochelle Reinke of Sioux City, IA; and nephew Randy Reinke (Brendee) of Neligh, NE.
