Lyle Frerichs

Funeral services for Lyle Frerichs, age 77, of O’Neill, NE, are scheduled for Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in O’Neill, NE, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John Nelson officiating.

Burial will be in the Page Cemetery in Page, NE. Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill, NE, is in charge of arrangements.

Lyle LeRoy Frerichs was born on October 1, 1944, in Dalton, NE, the third child of Willard and Elsie (Rahe) Frerichs. He was baptized in the Wyerts Lutheran Church. He attended country school until his family moved to Page, NE, in the third grade. His father, Willard, passed away while Lyle was in elementary school. To help support his family, he worked for several farmers in the Page area. Lyle was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in O’Neill, NE, on May 25, 1958. He graduated from Page High School in 1962.

Lyle married Joyce Grass during his junior year of high school. To this union, four children were born: JoAnn, Kathy, Chrissy, and Lee. Lyle managed grocery stores in Emmet, NE, Plainview, NE, and then Cherokee, IA, before moving back to the Page area. The couple later divorced in 1975. Lyle then married Rose Walton in 1976. They later divorced in 1985. He then married Jackie Martin in Burke, SD, on June 20, 1987. She added to the family her daughter, Maggie.

Lyle worked for Meadow Gold for over 20 years. He then spent over 15 years at Old Home Bread, before working for Alpha Galvanizing for over 25 years until he retired. Like many people, Lyle wasn’t good at being retired, so he got a job as a security guard for TP&L until he was forced to retire again due to health reasons.

Lyle was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in O’Neill, NE. He enjoyed being outdoor, doing yard work and tinkering in his garden. He also enjoyed following Husker volleyball and football, and playing cards with his friends. When he was younger, he used to help Danny Nekolite race cars.

Lyle passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at his home in O’Neill, NE.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jackie Frerichs, O’Neill, NE; children: JoAnn (Jim) Mitchell, Omaha, NE, Kathy (Mick Mitchell) Clyde, O’Neill, NE, Chrissy Frerichs, O’Neill, Lee (Sally) Frerichs, Omaha, NE, and Maggie (Bruce Carlson) Storjohann, Elm Creek; eight grandchildren: Katie (Kyle) Krause, Jake (Kennedy Drew) Frerichs, Taylor Frerichs, Chelsie Frerichs, Keil Frerichs, Zach Storjohann, Brett (Hannah Branstad) Storjohann, Katie Storjohann; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Vernona Nekolite of O’Neill, NE, LaVada (Bill) Stanton of O’Neill, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; five grandchildren: Allison Mitchell, Grace Mitchell, Sydney Mitchell, Aaron Mitchell, and Michael Storjohann; sister, Vida (Harlan) Jenkins; and brother-in-law, Danny Nekolite.

Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation.
