Phillip Little Killer Martinez

Funeral services for Phillip Little Killer Martinez were held on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home in Gregory, SD with Pastor Russ Grim officiating.

Interment was in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD, on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with military honors by the Gregory American Legion and the South Dakota Honors Program.

Phillip George Little Killer Martinez was born April 17, 1950, in Chadron, NE, to Ambrose F. Martinez Sr. and Teresa Little Killer. Phillip was one of eleven children.

He attended school in Chadron, NE. He later enlisted in the US Army and served from 1973 -1977 and was honorably discharged. Phillip was stationed in Korea for part of his time in the service.

Phillip enjoyed beading, walking his dog, fishing, and traveling. He enjoyed being out in the country and his visits with his family and friends.

Phillip moved to Dallas, SD, in 2010, to be near his sisters.

Phillip is survived by his son Casey Romero of Pine Ridge, SD; his aunt Nellie Buckman; four brothers Donald Martinez of Rapid City, SD, Ambrose Martinez Jr. of Potato Creek, SD, Darrell Martinez of Wanblee, SD, and Raymond Bissonette of Rapid City, SD; three sisters Lolita Martinez Alvarez of Parker, SD, Carolyn Campos of Yankton, SD, and Teresa Martinez of Dallas, SD; and his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Ambrose Martinez Sr. and Teresa Little Killer, three sisters Joan White Shield, Carmelita Martinez and Darlene Martinez Fields, and his step-mother Esther Red Shirt Martinez.
