Robert Schrader

Graveside services for Robert Schrader were held on October 11, 2022, at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, SD, with military honors from the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard, US Army. Robert Jerry Schrader was born on April 22, 1932, at home on the family farm at Brocksburg, NE, to William and Dorothy (Dunn) Schrader. Bob, as he was called, came from a large family of 12 children. Mildred Kittlemann, Stanley, Bob, Ruth Krejci, Darrell, Marlyn (Joe), Bonnie Endes, James, Leroy, Howard, Violet Brumbaugh, and Myrna Zimbelmann.

In 1961, Robert married Jerri Anthony and they raised their three children: Jerri Anne, Arlene Songer, and Howard. Later, Robert married Inez Alexander and acquired five step-children: Charles, Mischel, Dorothy, Jerry Bill, and Scott.

Robert worked many years as a ranch hand. In his earlier years, he worked for Berl Shattuck, and later on, he worked for other ranches in western Nebraska. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on February 21, 1956. Robert also worked in the coal mines and was an avid rodeo rider.

Robert passed away on September 29, 2022 at Weston County Manor in Newcastle, WY, at the age of 90 years.

Robert is survived by Howard, Jerri Anne, Mischel, Dorothy, Charles, and Scott, former spouse Jerri; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Darrell and Joe; sisters, Mildred Kittlemann and Violet Brumbaugh; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Summer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Dorothy; daughter, Arlene (10-2-2005); daughter-in-law, Jeanie (3-28-2002); stepson, Jerry Bill; a great-grandson; and Inez.

He was preceding by brothers: Stanley, James, Leroy, Howard; sisters: Ruth Krejci, Bonnie Endes, and Myrna Zimblemann.
