A celebration of life was held for Roger Kerner, where family and friends gathered at the Gregory American Legion in Gregory, SD, on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. At Roger’s request there was no funeral services.
Roger Eugene Kerner was born November 14, 1954, to Dowain and Audrey (Konop) Kerner. Roger grew up helping his parents on the family farm south of Gregory, SD. Later two younger brothers were added to the family. Roger loved to hunt with the family dog Blackie and shared his love of hunting with his brother Dean.
Roger graduated from Burke High School in 1973. After graduation he worked for a neighbor and eventually discovered his dream to become electrician. Roger enrolled at Mitchell Vo-Tech with a year and a half iting list. After graduating he worked for Interstates Electric of Iowa. job had him traveling to many states working on alcohol plants and in elevators.
Roger met and married Patty Eisenmeyer in Villa Grove, IL, and they re married twenty years. His job took them to Okachobee, FL, where y bought a house. Roger began working for Bay States Flour where became the head electrician and remained there for 25 years until his irement.
Roger would come back home every year for a couple of months during summer to help his brothers on the farm. Roger loved to go shooting h his brother Dean and nephew Dowain. After the loss of his wife, the ps home continued until his health no longer allowed it.
Roger passed away on June 8, 2021, at Lawnwood Hospital in Fort rce, FL, from complications due to diabetes at the age of 66.
Roger was survived by his two brothers Brad of Lake Andes and Dean thy) of Gregory, nephew Dowain, nieces Betty Ann and Heather, and ny great nieces and nephews.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents Dowain and Audrey, his wife ty, and infant twin brothers.
