After graduation he continued to work on the farm with his Dad and also went to work for neighbors, Loren and Darlene Jons, on their dairy. In 1979 he went to work for Divine Concrete in Bonesteel where he worked for over 30 years. In 2013 he went to work for himself as a carpenter.

Roger met the love of his life, Roberta Pistulka, from Fairfax, SD. They married in 1980 and enjoyed 40 years of marriage while making memories with friends and family by, going on ski trips, attending countless house parties, and many trips and parties with the Divine Crew.

Roger and Roberta were blessed to have four children; Quentin, Preston, Trisha, and Darrin. Many nights were spent at a ballfield or gym watching their children participate in school and college activities. Roger was an avid fisherman and hunter; he treasured sharing those moments with his family. In the fall he would look for the 30 point buck, and in the spring and summer you would find him down at Whetstone Bay fishing for walleye.
