Funeral services for Skylar Marshall were held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home in Gregory, SD, with Jerome Kills Small, traditional Lakota service and Pastor John Granchie officiating.
Honorary casket bearers were Steven Morgan, Jesse Ciemiewicz, Brian Kuskie, Adriane Barron, Nacho Barron, Lucas Marshall, Luke McSweeney, Mitchell Bull Bear, and Nathan Bull Bear. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Skylar Allen Marshall was born on December 20, 1988, in Fort Collins, CO, to Ronalee Kuskie and Timothy Marshall.
Skylar grew up in Iliff, CO, and graduated from Caliche High School. Skylar loved music in all forms, and enjoyed playing the drums. He also liked to golf, work with wood, and spend time with his family and friends.
After high school Skylar worked at a feedlot near Iliff, CO. There he met Micheala Goins, and they started their life together. In August 2017, Skylar became a step-father, and in 2020, he became a father.
In 2020, Skylar moved to Gregory, SD, and began working for Spann Construction Service.
Skylar passed away at Avera McKennan Healthcare Center in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 33, on May 15, 2022.
Skylar is preceded in death by great-grandma and great-grandpa Kuskie; great-grandma and great-grandpa Kalinowski; uncles, Patrick Bull Bear and Theodore Bull Bear; and aunts, Lynette Werner and Carol Ann Bull Bear.
He is survived by his mother, Ronalee Kuskie; father, Timothy Marshall; wife, Micheala Goins; step-children Cattleya Goins and Jaxon Goins; son, Jakob Marshall; daughter, Bella Marshall; brothers, Luke Marshall, Steven Morgan, and Jesse Ciemiewicz; grandmother, Delores Marshall; great-grandmother, Lavera Bull Bear; grandparents, Ronald and Kathrine Kuskie; uncles, Peter Janis and Vincent Janis; aunt, Tracy Janis; uncles, Troy Kuskie and Brian Kuskie; great-uncle, Charlie (Marla) Bull Bear; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
