Virgil Albert Raschke, Jr. was born on December 31, 1975, in Platte, SD, to Virgil Raschke and Sherri Bartling Raschke. Virgil went to Gregory High School and graduated in 1994. He then attended the University of South Dakota and received his degree in 1999. After college, Virgil worked for Enterprise Car Rental in Sioux Falls, SD. He later moved to California and continued to work for Enterprise and a corporate insurance company. He later purchased his home in Palm Springs, CA, where he resided until the time of his death.
When he was growing up, Virgil enjoyed spending time with his grandparents. He helped his Grandma Bartling with her home interiors business, where he developed his sense of style and fashion. He also enjoyed helping Granny Raschke with her plants and lawn care and enjoyed her company. Virgil enjoyed spending time with friends and family and always greeted them with that contagious smile and laugh.
Virgil was very proud of his home in California--which he affectionately named the “Raschke Riviera”. He was always excited to entertain company and enjoyed spending time at the pool. Virgil enjoyed traveling all over California to visit numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Violet Raschke and Gerhardt and Joan Bartling, and great-grandparents, Albert and Marie Schultz and Noble and Viola Inglett.
Virgil is survived by his father Virgil Raschke of Gregory, SD; mother Sherri Raschke and friend Dale of Herrick, SD; brother Tim Raschke of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters Lisa Jelinek and husband Brad of Mitchell, SD, Sonja Sanchez and husband Ben of Atlanta, GA, and Viola Raschke and husband Heath Kennedy of Clarksville, TN; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial service are pending for the month of October. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
