Wanda Miner

Funeral services for Wanda Miner were held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Bonesteel City Hall in Bonesteel, SD, with Pastor Ken James officiating and Reverend Jacqueline Hickox, morgan. Casket bearers were Todd Charging Hawk, Larry Charging Hawk, Donovan Charging Hawk, Jerald Miner, Jon Collins, and Kaleb Cournoyer. Honorary casket bearers were all of Wanda’s family and friends. Interment was in the Ponca Creek UCC Cemetery in St. Charles, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Wanda Jean Miner was born September 23, 1949, at Watertown, SD, to Pierre LaPointe, Sr. and Josephine Andrews LaPointe. She attended St. Charles Public School. She lived most of her life in the St. Charles and Bonesteel area. Later in her life, she met Gerald Charging Hawk, and from this marriage, five boys were born: Myron Charging Hawk (deceased), Todd Charging Hawk, Jerald Charging Hawk Miner, Jr., Larry Charging Hawk, and Donovon Charging Hawk.

Later in life, she remarried Ralph Miner in 1985, and in 1987, moved to Eagle Butte, SD. In 1988, they moved to Randolf, NE, and then to Norfolk, NE, where she remained until August of 2017.

Wanda was a homemaker and housewife. She loved babysitting, taking care of her plants, baking, cooking, traveling, reading and home art projects.

Wanda is survived by her sons Todd Charging Hawk, Larry Charging Hawk, Jerald Miner, and Donovan Charging Hawk; sister Shirley (Alfred) Old Lodge; brother Loren (Barb) LaPointe; grandchildren Chantel, Kiersten, Tawny Charging Hawk, Ingrid, Isiah, Kenzy, Michael Charging Hawk, and Kalvin Bird; aunts Winnie Andrews, Rita Carlson, and Jesse Andrews; and many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Pierre Sr. and Josephine LaPointe; Jesse Andrews Sr.; Marvin LaPointe; Pierre LaPointe Jr.; Almeda LaPointe; Regina Bad Horse; Norma Kornokovich; Myron Charging Hawk; Jesse and Mercy Andrews; Caroline, Joyce, Donna, Hampton Andrews; and Margaret Williams.
