Eunice Siler

Funeral services for Eunice Siler were held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Burke, SD, with Pastor Sarah Herman officiating. Music was provided by Twylah Ward, organist. Debbie Storms was in charge of registration. Casket bearers were Chad Bohnet, Brian Bohnet, Kurt Bohnet, Brad Bohnet, Steve Bohnet, and Arnie Storms. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery in Burke, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements Eunice M. Siler was born August 30, 1919, on the family homestead near Lucas, SD, to Thomas C. and Anna (Ternes) Stewart.

Funeral services for Elva Klein were held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD, with Pastor Mark Tuttle officiating.

Robert Harrison

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Winner United Methodist Church in Winner, SD. Burial is scheduled to follow in the Winner Cemetery. Bob was born May 26, 1944, to Harold and Ellen (Bailey) Harrison in Burke, SD. Bob was the third oldest of eight children. He graduated from Gregory High School in 1962. He spent many years at his grandfather and grandmother Bailey’s ranch near the Missouri River helping with all the aspects of running a ranch. He had fond memories of playing as well as working with his brothers on the ranch. After completing high school, he joined the US Navy. He completed basic training at San Diego, CA, and later spent time at Subic Bay in Olongapo, Philippines, and Bremerton, WA, on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. Bob’s professional career culminated with thirty-five years in the construction industry. Projects comprised single family homes and commercial buildings including hotels and restaurants.

Gregory Kollars

Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bonesteel, SD, with Father Jonathan Dillon officiating.

Lois Besmer

There will be memorial service and a celebration of life event for Lois Besmer planned for the summer of 2023. She will be interned next to her mother, father, brother, and sister in the Gregory Cemetery. Lois was born on June 9, 1939, the fourth of six children, to Edward and Ola Knittel (Steppat Warden) in South Dakota on the Rezac place south of Dallas. Lois spent her childhood on the family farm near Gregory, SD. Initially attending a one-room schoolhouse with siblings and neighbors, Lois later boarded in town while attending Gregory High School from which she graduated in 1957. While in high school, she was a 4-H leader for the Ramos Ramblers. The group sang “The Cattle Call” at the state fair in Huron, SD, and took first prize. The group then went to Kansas for another performance. While in high school at Gregory High, her interests were bookkeeping and home economics. Lois kept the books at Newsam Chevrolet and enjoyed polka dancing and waltzing at Colome on Saturday nights.

Betty Forgey

Funeral services for Betty Forgey are scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Winner, SD. Burial will be in the Colome City Cemetery. Mason Funeral Home of Winner, SD, is in charge of arrangements. Betty Lou Fode was born on June 23, 1936, in her parents’ home in Gregory County, SD. She grew to womanhood on the family farm south of Carlock, SD. She was baptized and confirmed in the Peace Lutheran Church. She attended country school and later attended Springview, NE High School and graduated in 1954. She was married to James Jacob Forgey on June 27, 1954. After the wedding, they moved to Casper, WY area, where Jim worked road construction for Forgey Construction. Their firstborn, Dennis James, was born in 1955. They moved back to the family farm in Tripp County, SD. Kay Louise was born in 195,7 followed by Julie Ann in 1960.
