Brian Snyder

Funeral services for Brian Snyder were held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Burke Civic Center in Burke, SD, with Pastor Mark Tuttle officiating.

David Turgeon

Memorial services for David Turgeon were held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD. Burial will be held at a later date. Mason Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. David was born on August 18, 1951, to Clair and Shirley (McKenzie) Turgeon. Dave attended school in Burke, SD, and graduated from BHS in 1969. David loved to hunt and fish. As a child he would be found with a BB gun in his hand or a fishing pole. David also played football, basketball, and baseball if he was not hunting, fishing, or working. The summer before college, he worked at Homestake Mine. While attending Southern State University he was drafted into the Army. He was enlisted July of 1971, and honorably discharged December of 1972. He was deployed to Korea as a security guard in the DMZ for the United Nations. Dave received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service in the performance of his duties as Squad Leader and won Expert Marksmanship as well.

Bromley Heath

Funeral services for Bromley Heath were held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Colome High School Gym in Colome, SD, with Pastor Keith Moody officiating.

Wanda Kunzler

Wanda Kunzler was born in Lindsay, OK, on November 4, 1929, to Earl and Ruth (Hoover) Crawford. Wanda was the oldest and had three brothers: Gene, Bob, and Dean. Through her many travels, she ended up in Modesto, CA, where she met Ted Kunzler, who passed away May 6, 1987. A few years later, she met her companion Meryl Serr, and they moved to South Dakota. They owned various businesses in Dallas and Gregory. They later moved to Colome, SD. Wanda enjoyed sitting on the deck watching her greatgrandchildren Raelyn and Hayze Fast play. She also enjoyed family and watching football.

Robert Schrader

Graveside services for Robert Schrader were held on October 11, 2022, at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, SD, with military honors from the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard, US Army. Robert Jerry Schrader was born on April 22, 1932, at home on the family farm at Brocksburg, NE, to William and Dorothy (Dunn) Schrader. Bob, as he was called, came from a large family of 12 children. Mildred Kittlemann, Stanley, Bob, Ruth Krejci, Darrell, Marlyn (Joe), Bonnie Endes, James, Leroy, Howard, Violet Brumbaugh, and Myrna Zimbelmann.

Claude Harrison

A private family share time for Claude Harrison was held on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Claude Edward Harrison was born September 29, 1941, at Burke, SD, to Harold and Ellen (Bailey) Harrison. He was the oldest child, later joined by Doug, Bob, Jack, Mike, and Dirk. He graduated from Burke High School in 1959. Shortly after, he married Anita McKenzie. To this union, three daughters were born: Robin, Cheryl, and Natalie. Claude and Anita lived on the ranch with his grandparents, Ed and Merle Bailey. It was on the ranch that Claude developed his love of horses, with his favorite being Black Jack. He also hired out for Chuck Baker as a hay grinder. Claude and Anita later divorced.

Janet Bruun

Janet Jane (Schramm) Bruun was born on June 29, 1938, to Howard and Irene “Chic” (Hight) Schramm. Janet was born in Winner, SD, and was baptized August 5, 1938, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Winner, SD. She was later confirmed in 1952, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran. She grew up in Winner, SD, with her parents and younger brother Chuck. Her uncle Herbert’s family lived across the street. Howard and Herbert were identical twins. Janet’s mother was a nurse, and during Janet’s childhood years, she spent many hours at the hospital while her mother was working. Janet’s school years began in Winner, and she graduated from Winner High School in 1956. Highlights of this time were attending at baseball, football, and basketball games with close friends. Janet’s dad loved taking the girls to games and spoiling them with treats. Janet grew up in Winner with seven uncles and one aunt. Janet was the oldest cousin on the Hight side and the second oldest on the Schramm side.

Kenneth and Bonnie Endes

A celebration of life for Kenneth and Bonnie Endes was held on October 1, 2022, in Bakersfield, CA. Kenneth Taylor Endes was born on April 1, 1938, to Theodore Edwin Endes and Julia Catherine (Rose) Endes in Mills, NE. Kenneth was the first child, followed by six siblings: Seldon Endes, Lester Endes, Judith Wilson, Danny Endes, Cathy Hood, and David Endes. Bonnie Ilene Endes was born on February 1, 1941, to William Fred and Dorthy Alta (Dunn) Schrader in Brocksburg, NE.

Letha Osburn

Funeral services for Letha Osburn were held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Winner United Methodist Church in Winner, SD.

Carroll Bruun

A celebration of life for Carroll Bruun was held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Winner United Methodist Church in Winner, SD. Mason Funeral Home of Winner, SD, was in charge of arrangements. Carroll Helmer Bruun was born on February 11, 1938, to Helmer and Mae (Nelson) Bruun. Helmer came to America from Tarm, Denmark, and met Mae, who was from Reliance, SD. Carroll was born in Colome, SD, and was baptized September 21, 1941, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dallas, SD. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Dallas with two sisters, Ginny and Marlene. Carroll started school at Lincoln Country School. He graduated from Gregory High School in 1955. During his high school years, he lived with the Hoffie family in Gregory while working at Louie’s Grocery. Highlights of this time were playing American Legion baseball and winning backto- back state championships in 1954 and 1955. Carroll was a pitcher and center fielder.
