Funeral services for Allen “Randy” DeWolf were held on Thursday, October 06, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Civic Center in Burke, SD. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery in Burke, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Randy was born on March 23, 1945 in Sioux Falls, SD, to Conrad and Ercel (Sunding) DeWolf. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Highmore, SD. Highmore is where he grew up and graduated from high school. Randy excelled in all sports (basketball, football, and track). He received the nickname “Mr. Outside “in football because of his ability to get outside with his speed on the toss sweep.

Memorial services for Jr Rash, age 62, of O’Neill, NE were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Word of Life Christian Center in O’Neill, NE. Burial will be at a later date in Gregory, SD. Biglin’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Clifford “Jr” William Rash was born on September 10, 1960, in Winner, SD to Clifford and Virginia (Hannahs) Rash. He attended Gregory Public Schools through the eighth grade. Jr then worked for his cousin, Bud, for several years on the family farm. Jr enjoyed entering rodeos, especially for bull riding. He worked many jobs to pay the bills, notably for a time in Washington state for an irrigation company, and then for a fencing crew. Locally, he worked for Herd Co. until he was forced to retire due to health reasons in 2006.

Funeral services for Jack Wenger were held on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory, SD, with Pastor Marcus Ring officiating. Music was provided by Geoff Smith, soloist, accompanied by Melanie Hannahs, organist. Lisa Thieman and Rhonda Waterbury were in charge of registration, and flower attendants were Pat Cerny, Jennifer Keegan, Barb Drees, and Machelle Seeley. Casket bearers were Al Cerny, Ken Cerny, Daniel Krueger, Bryan Nelson, Mark Eklund, and Rod Frank. Honorary casket bearers were David (Frog) Green, Rod Hlavka, Bruce Finzen, Greg Drees, Tom Waterbury, Rick Messerschmidt, Jack Clark, Kirby Kruse, Doug Shepperd, Kevin Schwartz, Alex Hamilton, Austin Hamilton, Justin Keegan, Bud Jacobsen, Brad Kruse, Gregory Warren, and Brad Kahler.

Virgil Albert Raschke, Jr. was born on December 31, 1975, in Platte, SD, to Virgil Raschke and Sherri Bartling Raschke. Virgil went to Gregory High School and graduated in 1994. He then attended the University of South Dakota and received his degree in 1999. After college, Virgil worked for Enterprise Car Rental in Sioux Falls, SD. He later moved to California and continued to work for Enterprise and a corporate insurance company. He later purchased his home in Palm Springs, CA, where he resided until the time of his death.

Larry L. Hespe was born December 11, 1945, to Gus and Mabel (McIntosh) Hespe. Larry lived life well and to the fullest. He met his first wife, Margaret Hambek, in 1965, and to that marriage, four boys were born: Lance, Luke, Morgan, and Marshall. He worked at the Champlin Service Station in Gregory, SD, and trucked for various businesses. There are many stories of his trucking days to be heard; Larry never lacked the ingenuity to get the job done. In 1987, he married Dixie Prentice and gained another son, Darin Sherman. In 1987, Larry moved to back to Springview, NE, and worked at the Red Arrow pumping gas and repairing vehicles. Larry’s dream was to own an auto repair shop. In 1997, he and his son Lance moved to the current location of Hespe Auto Center and grew a productive business. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycles, playing his guitars, and having good conversations with friends and family.

Memorial services for Carla Trytten were held on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home in Gregory, SD, with Aric Hamilton officiating.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, KS.

Funeral services for Devon Senter are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Winner, SD. Burial is scheduled to follow in the Winner City Cemetery. Mason Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Devon Donald Senter was born June 25, 2002 in Pierre, SD to Victor Senter and Carrie Davis. The oldest child, Devon was excited when, his sister Cadence Senter came along two years later. The two of them were inseparable and often got into mischief together. Devon was fearless from the beginning and caused more than a few gray hairs on our heads. For example, he climbed out his bedroom window at 5:00 a.m. to go to the city park when he was four years old, and, on another occasion, he disappeared and hid in the dumpster with his puppy and only popped up when the police showed up to help search for him. Though for all his stunts, you wouldn’t find a kid with a bigger heart and more generous soul.

A memorial service for Brian Anderson was held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium in Gregory, SD, with Pastor Elmo Herman officiating. Sonya Zimbelman read scripture readings, and music was provided by Java Jives, Bette Fogel, pianist, and Sara Anderson, soloist. Words of remembrance were given by Jay Clayton, Virgil Grim, CSM Schmidt, and Royal Archer. Teresa Clayton, Alissia Hacking, Jess Clayton, and Haley Layh were in charge of registration. Flower attendants were Maddie Fuhr, Keeley Klein, Kaydence Klein, and Kristen Jacobsen. Urn bearers were Kelly Wilhelmsen, Virgil Grim, John Bokker, Charlie Johnson, Jed Gassen, TJ Gassen, and CSM Schmidt. Honorary urn bearers were Brian’s host of friends and the brothers and sisters with whom he had the great honor of serving with.

Funeral services for William Baker were held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home in Gregory, SD, with Pastor Elmo Herman officiating. Music was provided by Lynn Ellefson and Jean Maiorella. Kira Ellefson was in charge of registration. Rick Baker was urn bearer. Honorary urn bearers were Brian Maiorella, Kirk Ellefson, James Potter, Alexander Maiorella, Clay Evans, Wyatt Evans, Arthur Maiorella, and Anthony Maiorella. Inurnment was in the Spotted Tail Cemetery in Jamison, NE, with military honors by the Gregory American Legion. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
