Boys basketball falls to 6-11 on the season

Gregory Sixth-Grade Girls Claim Tournament Championship in Valentine

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, the Gregory sixth-grade girls basketball team traveled to Valentine, NE, where they competed in an eight-team tournament and came home as tournament champions, earning medals and championship hats. Gregory defeated Gordon-Rushville 29–5, North Central 36–7, and won the championship game 28–13. Lady Gorillas 1-1 for the week

Gregory 35 vs. Jones County 44 by Coach Lonnie Klundt The Gorillas traveled to Jones County for double header action. The Gorillas were cool to start the first quarter and Jones County was hot. Quarter scores show Gregory with 4, 11, 28 and 35, while Jones County had stops of 16, 23, 31 and 44. Asia VanDerWerff led the Gorillas with 19, Dani VanDerWerff 7, Gracie Biggins 5, and 2 each for Regan Graesser and Sadie Carlson. Gorillas shot 15 of 40 from the field for 38% and a cool 1 of 6 from the foul line for 17%.

Gregory 31 vs. Winner 66 by Coach Jeff Determan The Gregory Gorillas continued a busy stretch of games last week when they traveled to Winner on Feb. 2. The Gorillas took an early first quarter lead but the Warriors held a 16-9 lead after one quarter. The Gorillas scored 6 points in the second quarter and trailed 33-15 at the half. The Warriors connected on 5 three point baskets in the third quarter while outscoring the Gorillas 16-9 setting up a fourth quarter that was eerily similar to the first three. “We did a good job of getting shots and taking care of the ball, we just had a hard time scoring.”

Storm girls place two in Ainsworth

The Storm girls participated in the Ainsworth Tournament on Friday, January 30, 2026, earning an 11th place finish with only four wrestlers. “I thought we wrestled real well, and we continue to progress.The girls’ attitude is great,” Coach Joel Johnson said.
