When we think of modern den t i s t ry, we picture a sparkling office, adv anced tools, and pain free procedures. Ho w e ve r, dental care in the 1800s was far from what we experience today. It was an era of primitive tools and a whole lot of trial and error.

At the regular meeting of the Gregory School District Board of Education, held at 6 p.m., Monday, November 10, 2025, Board Member Jason Frasch reported that he had received an email stating that resolution of Mid-Central Education Cooperative’s case with the State of South Dakota is finally moving forward. This was discussed further in executive session, after which the board unanimously approved the settlement agreement as forwarded by the attorney for the State of South Dakota that the Mid-Central Educational Cooperative Board had approved. Mid-Central Educational Cooperative is responsible to work with the Department of Legislative Audit on a close-out audit while bearing that cost.

As the holiday season approaches, our district is excited to continue one of the most meaningful traditions offered to our youngest learners: Elementary Shopping Day. This annual event gives our elementary students the opportunity to choose gifts for the special people in their lives—an experience that promotes generosity, gratitude, and the joy of giving.

STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The Gregory Public Library has offered a STEAM Club on Mondays after school for grades 1-5 for several years.

At the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council, held at 6 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2025, Mayor Al Cerny discussed inspecting the city’s light poles. Rosebud Electric Company is having a company come to town to test some of their light poles this spring.

Annual tree lighting and visit from Santa are scheduled There might not be any snow on the ground, but Gregory will soon be looking a lot like Christmas. This coming Saturday, November 22, is the town’s official Christmas season kick-off.
