Think and Learn Extension Club celebrates golden anniversary

Not many organizations remain in existence long enough to celebrate a 50th anniversary, but the Think and Learn Extension Club has done just that. The club celebrated this momentous occasion on Saturday, June 11, with a salad luncheon and program at Mary Vale in Gregory.
Gregory boys claim school’s first ever state golf championship

The Gregory boys golf team dominated the competition last week, June 6-7, at the state tournament in Rapid City at The Elks Golf Club. The boys anticipated this win but knew it wouldn’t be easy. It took long days at the golf course either hitting balls inside if it was cold, or having friendly competitions with each other.
Weather shortens first day of state golf tournament

Inclement weather shortened the first day of the state golf tournament in Rapid City on Monday, June 6. Over 60 golfers were unable to finish their rounds, including individual leader Cooper Long from Garretson.
New history book details rural schools in Gregory County

One hundred thirty-two rural schools have existed in Gregory County since shortly before the turn of the twentieth century. Now the county has two K-12 schools and one K-5.

GFP receiving reports of hemorrhagic disease at various levels

GFP has received reports of hemorrhagic disease in deer at varying levels across South Dakota and asks for assistance in reporting dead deer. Landowners who are in the field, archery and upland game hunters, and anyone else who encounters dead deer of unknown causes are encouraged to contact their local Conservation Officer or GFP Office.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, four Gregory County FFA members competed in the Land and Range contest at Varilek Angus in Geddes, SD. The team of Ben Stevicks, Matthew Smith, Taylor Zeisler, and Morgan Peck placed second, and three of them placed in the top ten individually.

The Marching Gorillas arrived at school at 5 a.m. this past Saturday, October 4, 2025, for their trip to perform at the 9 a.m. Dakota Days parade in Vermillion, SD. Gregory was one of nine bands to perform and compete in the parade. For their efforts, the Marching Gorillas brought home a first-place trophy in class ‘A’ by scoring more points than Vermillion High School.
