A Note From Cottonwood Corners

In 1870, Gen. D. S. Stanley was in command of the military district of Dakota, with headquarters at Fort Sully. The U. S. Infantry was stationed at the different forts in the territory and at the Indian agencies which included the Whetstone Agency. From all available accounts, relations were unusually quiet and peaceable.

Gregory, SD - Disposable wipes have been causing problems in communities around the country and Gregory is no different. Wipes — used for changing diapers, personal hygiene, housecleaning, and more — cause major problems when flushed down toilets. Though many of these products are labeled “flushable” or “septic safe,” they are anything but. The same goes for facial tissues, baby wipes, paper towels and other products.

Sixty-one years later, army buddies still get together

They went to basic training together, advanced infantry training together, to Vietnam together, and home together. They were members of Company B 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Division, also known as “Big Red One.” Their experience created an unbreakable bond that continues to bring them together.

Homecoming festivities begin Monday

Fall is in the air. Cool, crisp nights, shorter days, the scent of pumpkin spice everywhere, evening bonfires, and sweaters. Fall also means Homecoming, and Gregory High School is gearing up for their special week.
