Burke Bombers 7 Plankinton Bankers 4 Showing that they might have been underrated, the #6 seed Burke Bombers took down the #3 seed Plankinton Bankers 7-4 on Saturday, July 27, in their first game of the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association District 3 Tournament in Wessington Springs. The Bankers got on the board first when an error in the first inning allowed a run.

Old hospital and nursing home slowly coming down

Progress becomes more evident each week as demolition of the former Avera Gregory Hospital and Nursing Home continues. Headway is slow since all asbestos has to be removed first by experts before further work can continue. A view from the outside shows the hospital to be basically a shell of a building as windows, doors, and many interior walls have been removed.

The Lindsey Family to perform at Prairie View Gospel Barn

The Lindsey Family will make their first appearance at Prairie View Gospel Barn on Tuesday, August 6. Traveling and playing music throughout the United States and Canada, The Lindsey Family sings and plays positive-oriented music, mostly in the acoustic tradition, with other instruments and styles as appropriate.

Street resurfacing continues

Local drivers are already celebrating some smoother streets around town as work continues on 42 blocks slated for resurfacing. Just the first step of applying gravel was a huge improvement, but now the milling and packing have begun.
