Sometimes leap year isn’t a leap year

This year is a leap year, meaning that February had 29 days instead of the normal 28, which we observed on Thursday. It happens every four years, so it should come as no surprise to anyone when it rolls around. But why do we do this?

Girls wrestling expands in Gregory County

Daytona Paris and Libby Krcil were groundbreakers in Gregory County this winter, becoming the first two girls to compete in high school girls wrestling as part of the Burke/Gregory Storm team. Although women’s wrestling made its Olympic debut in 2004, girls wrestling at the high school and college levels is just now gathering steam.

Student from Mongolia finds lots to like in South Dakota

Mungun Munkhbat is a foreign exchange student at Gregory High School this year, living with host family Virginia Dargatz and Clay Peck. Mungun is from Mongolia, a country located between Russia to the north and China to the south.

Storm finishes year with two state medalists

The South Dakota State High School wrestling tournament was held in Sioux Falls on February 22-24, 2024. The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestling team had four wrestlers compete.

Hillcrest Motel under new management and renamed L Two Lodging

After 43 years the Hillcrest Motel is under new management as of February 1, 2024. Dillon and Cheyenne Lambley have changed hands with Kathy and Lawrence Oliver and will be the new owners of the motel under the name L Two Lodging.
