    Four area girls selected to attend Girls State

    The Gregory and Dallas American Legion Auxiliaries have chosen four Gregory High School girls from the junior class—Lainey Dobson, Claire Engel, Naomi Hanson, and Tamara Imhof—to attend this year’s ALA Girls State to be held May 24-28, 2026 at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

    Legacy Five returns to the Gospel Barn

    Legacy Five is making a return appearance at the Prairie View Gospel Barn at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026. When the Legendary Cathedral Quartet retired in December of 1999, Scott Fowler and Roger Bennett decided to continue the rich musical tradition of Southern Gospel Quartet singing.

    Students put skills learned in class to good use for the community

    A group of high school students showed up to the regular meeting of the Gregory School District Board of Education, held at 5 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, to shine a spotlight on some of the work they have been doing in woods class. Ryler Stevicks started out, describing the most recent project that he and a number of other students completed for the community weight room.

    New law is a win for landowners

    In a win for local conservation, HB 1001 was signed into law by Governor Larry Rhoden on Monday, March 9, 2026. The law allows adjoining landowners to burn stateowned (Title VI) ground along the Missouri River, in conjunction with landowners’ private ground, if the landowner has written permission from the associated state agency, reasonable forces available to suppress the spread of fire, and assumes all liability.
