Big third inning propels Gregory County Legion win over Winner

Gregory County Legion knocked in nine runs in the third on their way to a 13-4 victory over Winner on Wednesday, June 8. The offensive firepower by Gregory was led by Trey Murray, Bryce Frank, Brogan Glover, Owen Duffy, Sawyer Tietgen, and Gannon Thomas, all driving in runs in the frame.

Fundamentals of Baking workshop was held

Gregory County 4-H Held a Fundamentals to Baking workshop on Thursday, June 9, at the Burke Civic Center. There were two sessions - session 1 was from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and was for ages 6 years old to 10 years old; session 2 started at 1:00 p.m. and went till 3:00 p.m. and was for ages 10 years old and older. The youth baked blueberry and chocolate chip muffins and learned many basic baking skills, like how to follow a recipe and how to properly use different baking tools. The youth had a lot of fun and we hope to see them use these skills at our Special Foods contest next year.

73rd annual Czech Days to be held in Tabor on June 17 & 18

Merriam’s Midway Shows carnival on the midway and the Craft Fair & Sue Souhrada Memorial Quilt Show in the school gym kick off the 73rd annual Czech Days celebration on Thursday, June 16th. The Tabor Bluebirds baseball game with Lesterville will be at 7:30 p.m. in Leonard Cimpl Park followed by the Rich Schild Memorial Fireworks display to conclude the first day of the Czech Days celebration.

Catholic Daughters install new officers

New officers of Catholic Daughters of the Americas from Court St. Frances #547 of Gregory/Burke, Court Mary Imelda #1014 of Winner, and Court St. Maria Goretti #1584 of Colome were installed on the evening of 6/9/2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gregory, following Mass.

MSOE dean’s list for spring 2022 announced

Milwaukee School of Engineering of Milwaukee, WI, recently released the list of students who were named to the dean’s list for the 2022 spring quarter. Undergraduate students who have earned at least 30 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher (out of 4.0) are on the dean’s list.

Iowa State University announces spring 2022 dean’s list

Approximately 9,500 Iowa State University of Ames, IA, students have been recognized for academic achievement by being named to the spring semester 2022 dean’s list. Students named to the dean’s list must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.
