Hugh Glass, American frontiersman and fur trapper, is best known for his survival after having been left for dead when a grizzly bear he had been mauled him along the Grand River in northern South Dakota. He survived the attack and traveled alone for more than two hundred miles to safety. Much of it was done by crawling on his elbows and one knee.

One hundred thirty-two rural schools have existed in Gregory County since shortly before the turn of the twentieth century. Now the county has two K-12 schools and one K-5.

The regular meeting of the Gregory City Council was held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2022, at City Hall. Taggart brings concerns to the council Mona Taggart addressed the council during the public forum portion of the meeting with a list of concerns, including the inability to hear warning sirens in businesses and homes along Highway 18, the old school, law enforcement, and semis driving through town on Highway 18 greatly exceeding the speed limit.

Acupuncture is one of the oldest practices in traditional Chinese medicine. Some theories even suggest that it may have been practiced elsewhere in Eurasia during the Stone Age, given evidence of the mummified body of Otzi the Iceman, which had tattoos around the areas where acupuncture needles are used. Today, acupuncture is still used to treat a wide variety of health concerns in humans, but the field of animal acupuncture is a new and growing field.

One inch and 21 hundredths of rain wasn’t the only story from the past weekend. Friday evening’s storm produced some lightning that hit very close to home, striking a tree at the corner of 13th Street and Rosebud Avenue.

The Gregory Gorilla track team traveled to the state meet in Sioux Falls to compete against the best of the best in South Dakota track and field. This was the first time that the state meet was held with all three classes B, A, and AA competing at the same time in the same venue over a three-day period. This new format presented opportunities and challenges for our athletes.
