Petitions to run for city council and school board seats were due on Friday, February 25, and it looks like the city will only have one contested seat out of a possible seven. Al Cerny, former city administrator/finance officer, will be the city’s next mayor, as Mayor Scott Anshutz opted not to run for another term, and no one else decided to try for the city’s top seat.

The charcuterie table was just one of the many attractions at this year’s Kegs & Corks evening. Fresh squeezed lemonade, several beers, a large selection of wines, and numerous items for the live and silent auctions were on the ticket to raise funds for new Christmas decorations for the city. Byrain Boes was the winner of the special Chase the Ace drawing that evening.

South Dakota Senate passes Noem’s vaccine mandate bill

South Dakota Senate Republicans gave hearty support on Monday, February 14, to Gov. Kristi Noem’s proposal to allow employees to gain exemptions from their employer’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates, passing it with the twothirds majority required if it is to be enacted immediately.

The South Dakota House on Thursday, February 17, passed a proposal to move the state’s presidential primary elections to Super Tuesday in hopes of gaining the state greater attention from White House hopefuls.
