One year after the first vaccination in Dec. 2020 which gave us great hope, three times we thought we were through with the virus - and now Omicron. It makes up 98% of the cases and has caused havoc not only here but in Canada and Europe as well.

A Note From Cottonwood Corners

As the southern portion of the Dakota Territory which was created on March 2, 1861, began to be populated, the citizens of the southern half of Dakota became interested in the division of the territory and its admission to the Union. At every session of the territorial legislature from 1870 to 1882, Congress was petitioned to divide the territory.

Winter weather impacts local blood supply

Recent winter weather caused blood drive cancellations, impacting the community blood supply. LifeServe Blood Center is urging community members to roll up a sleeve and give blood donation a try as soon as possible.

Co. commissioners open gravel bids for summer projects

The regular meeting of the Gregory County Board of Commissioners was held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Gregory County Courthouse. The minutes of the December 29, 2021, meeting were amended to reflect a change of venue for the weed department supervisor training, which will be held in Huron, and to change the date for bid letting for the courthouse parking lot/curb and gutter to March 1, 2022, because of corrections to bid specifications.

BID continues work toward goals, develops new ones

Gregory Business and Industrial Development group (BID) focused in 2021 on updating its strategic plan from April 2019. Note that from the goals listed below, two goals continue as significant challenges for “growing our community,” while two new ones were adopted. One of the new goals focuses on improving the appearance of Main Street, while the second goal addresses our board and improving diversity in its membership.
