It’s time for Homecoming

Excitement is in the air as students at Gregory School District prepare for Homecoming and the week of festivities that go along with it. Dress-up days will begin on Monday, October 4, with “business on top/casual on bottom.” Tuesday is “Spirit” day, and “Welcome to the Jungle” will be Wednesday’s theme, followed by “Throwback Thursday.” High school classes will also hold competitions each day to determine who gets to eat lunch first.

Swift Family Pumpkin Patch has an a-maze-ing new feature

Swift Family Enterprises has added a new feature to their pumpkin stand and patch this year -- a maze. Malachi, 15-year-old manager of the pumpkin patch operations, and his mother, Fawn, explained that the idea for the maze has been in the works for several years, and this year was the year to pull the trigger and do it.

Gorillas get rolled by Parkston Trojans, 50-0

The Parkston Trojans defeated Gregory 50-0 to drop the Gorillas record to 3-2. After winning 3 consecutive games, the Gorillas suffered their second loss on Saturday evening, September 18.

Parenting with the brain in mind

Gov. Kristi Noem to delay social studies standards

Governor Kristi Noem has directed the Department of Education to delay the process to consider revisions to the state’s social studies standards up to one year. She issued the following statement: “The Department of Education changed the working group’s recommendations to the social studies standards significantly, but it is clear to me that there needs to be more public input to bring greater balance and emphasis on our nation’s true and honest history.
