Purple Heart recognition day is August 7, 2021

At the request of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, Gov. Kristi Noem has proclaimed Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, as “Purple Heart Recognition Day,” calling on all South Dakotans to honor those men and women who are recipients of the Purple Heart Medal.

DWU continues popular transfer scholarship

Dakota Wesleyan University, in Mitchell, SD, is continuing a popular scholarship for students who transfer into the university. The Transfer 2000 scholarship is a $2,000 award granted to any transfer student who applies and is in addition to any other scholarships the student may be receiving.

Rushmore National Music Camp celebrates its 50th anniversary

by Patty Connealy In 1970 Paul and Lois Hedge brought to life their vision of providing a musical experience of the highest caliber in one of the most beautiful settings in the country when they founded the Rushmore Music Camp. Paul, the band director at Lead High School in Lead, SD, and Lois, the school librarian were able to bring in the most recognized conductors and performers/teachers to provide the attendees at their camp an unforgettable experience.
