Gregory County youth were able to put their engineering brains to work, and get creative during the junk drawer robotics. During this session, youth worked with a partner to design a marshmallow launcher using a random assortment of supplies. While designing and testing their catapult, 4.2x2 participants made adjustments to improve the distance and accuracy. The next challenge for participants was to use supplies including a cup, battery, motors and additional random supplies to choose from and build a robot to draw on paper with. All of the participants successfully completed both challenges, and enjoyed meeting other peers.

The Codington County area has seen six suicides so far this year. Four of them were of people under the age of 20.

The Sons of the American Legion will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, August 19th, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.

It’s back-to-school season; a busy time filled with excitement for students and teachers, as well as parents eager to snap those “first day of school” photos. The outpouring of positivity for students at every grade level has always been a great way to kickstart the school year.
