Construction moving along on new hospital

Although it might not look like much now, the new hospital is coming along. According to the contractor’s August 12 update, the earthwork and underground utility contractor has completed the site water and sanitary utilities, site stormwater utilities are in progress, the concrete contractor will begin footings this week, and electrical and plumbing contractors will be on site in two weeks to begin underground rough-ins.

SoDak Sun Yoga opens on Main Street in Gregory

Lacey Collins celebrated the ribbon cutting for her new business, SoDak Sun Yoga, on Wednesday, August 11. Although she has been offering yoga classes since June, this was the official public launch of her business.

Dog Days chalk art results from day care

Gregory County 4-H partnered with Busy Bees Daycare for their Dog Days Chalk Art event. The youth colored and drew pictures with sidewalk chalk up and down Burke’s Main Street along the sidewalks. This event took place on Wednesday, August 4th from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Gregory County 4-H wanted to give the community something to admire during Burke’s Annual Dog Days weekend.

State Historical Society hosting Measuring South Dakota program

The South Dakota State Historical Society Museum at the Cultural Heritage Center will change up its usual Family Fun Saturday in August and hold the event Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Capitol Lake Visitors Center in Pierre from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. CDT (9 a.m.-1 p.m. MDT). The event is free and open to the public.

South Central Storm stymied by Winner/Colome Pheasants

The South Central Stormmen’s amateur baseball team had a tough time generating runs on Sunday, August 8 dropping their game with the Winner/Colome Pheasants 10-3 in the first round of the men’s amateur state baseball tournament in Mitchell.
