The Winner Area office of the South Dakota Department of Transportation says that the reconstruction of U.S. Highway 18 and the U.S. Highway18/S.D. Highway 44 junction is scheduled to start Monday, March 29, 2021.

On Monday, March 22, the South Dakota Department of Health announced the statewide opening of Group E of the state’s Phase I priority groups. This group includes fire service personnel and critical infrastructure workers. Those eligible can receive their COVID-19 vaccine through a healthcare network or through a participating federal retail pharmacy site across the state.

I recently had the privilege of hearing from two impressive young South Dakota college students. Hattie Seten is the Students’ Association President at South Dakota State University, and she was recently selected to be a Rhodes Scholar. Abuk Jiel is the President of the University of South Dakota Student Government Association. They’re both hard-working, incredibly articulate, and both come from low-income families.
