After three days with no county law enforcement, Boyd County has a new sheriff. Matt McHale, a longtime law enforcement officer who most recently worked as an investigator and deputy in Holt County, was appointed Boyd County sheriff by unanimous decision by the Boyd County Board of Supervisors during an emergency meeting on Friday, February 27, 2026.
