The Gregory Gorillas hit the road after Christmas break and traveled to Lake Andes where they defeated the AC/DC Thunder last Tuesday evening by the score of 60-48. The Gorillas started the game with a Lincoln Juracek three pointer but found themselves trailing 13-5 midway through the first quarter until a late surge by the Gorillas tied the game up at 1313 after one quarter of play. The Thunder outscored the Gorillas 1411 in the second quarter and led 2724 at halftime. The Gorillas, led by Colt and Landon Keiser who combined for 12 of the 14 third quarter points, tied the game at the end of the third quarter, 38-38. The Gorillas took the lead early in the fourth quarter but the Thunder kept it close until late in the quarter when the Gorillas were able to pull away and secure the win. Colt Keiser had a huge night for the Gorillas with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Lincoln Juracek chipped in with 12 points and Landon Keiser added 9 points and 8 rebounds for the Gorillas. “We scored on a lot of possessions but most of our made baskets were two point field goals. AC/DC made 10 threes on the night and it seemed like we were trading 2’s for 3’s most of the night until late in the game. We are continuing to improve on the defensive end and on the boards as well.” With the win, the Gorillas are 2-3 on the year.
