The human race has never been more connected to one another. We can reach family, friends and strangers across the world in mere seconds. Despite this alleged connectedness, loneliness is everywhere. The U.S. Surgeon General referred to loneliness as an epidemic that is literally killing us, stating that lacking social connection can increase the risk for premature death as much as smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day. We all know smoking is dangerous, so why do we ignore the danger of loneliness? Ignoring it won't make it go away.

PIERRE, S.D. (8/4/26) – With rising housing prices and tight inventory, South Dakota Housing’s Board of Commissioners took action on a new initiative to increase the supply of workforce housing across the state.

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announces South Dakota will receive $996,862.80 as its share in a $400 million settlement in principle with Sandoz Inc. to resolve allegations that the generic drug manufacturer engaged in widespread, long-running conspiracies to artificially inflate and manipulate prices, reduce competition, and unreasonably restrain trade with regard to numerous generic prescription drugs.

PIERRE, SD – With the vast majority of South Dakota in a drought and experiencing high temperatures, grain producers are having to make some tough decisions about their crops. Will those grains produce enough yield to make harvesting them a financially viable option, or is it better to use those crops as forage for livestock?

I canned pickles over the weekend, which entailed peeling garlic cloves. Even though I beat each clove with the side of a large knife to loosen the skins, I still had to do a substantial amount of digging and scraping to clean them to my satisfaction.
