    DWU launches campus-wide AI initiative reaching hundreds of students, employees

This institutionwide implementation strengthens DWU’s position at the forefront of educational innovation and enables the transparent, ethical use of AI in teaching, learning and research.

    Recycling trailer violations will now come with hefty fines

    At the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council, held at 6 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2026, Councilwoman Laura Petersen asked if the city is responsible for imposing fines for violations at the recycling trailer and making the signs once it reopens. City Finance Director Trudy Waterman said the signs are already in the works after consulting with Police Chief Ryan Cook and City Attorney Rachelle Norberg. Fines will be assessed according to existing statutes up to $1,000.

    Veterans honored as part of new VA recognition program

    In a ceremony to honor veterans aged 90 and older, Leland Straight and Milo Jelinek received a certificate and VA Secretary Doug Collins’ personal coin in a framed presentation. The presentation was held at Silver Threads, where Straight is a resident, on May 27, 2026.

    Nebraska man killed in single vehicle crash

    Roy Robert Cadwallader, a 71-year-old male from Stuart, Nebraska, died of fatal injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash at mile marker 296 on US Highway 18, 10 miles east of Burke on the evening of Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

    Sutton back in the saddle again

    Legendary cowboy and former state Senator Billie Sutton is back in the saddle again, but this time riding an adaptive golf cart on the area golf courses instead of a saddle bronc. After a tragic 2007 rodeo injury which robbed Sutton of his ability to compete physically in sports, he had been searching for a way to get back out competing again.
