I have been blessed to serve in many leadership capacities in my life. Even after serving in the South Dakota National Guard, Majority Leader in the State Legislature, or as Lt.

    LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

An important primary election is coming. I want you to know who I like and why. Mykala Voita, Senator of District 21 from Bonesteel, has performed in an outstanding manner the past 2 years. She has debated and voted her heart, her convictions, and the will of her constituents. She brought bills to tamp down the woke agenda in South Dakota such as “definition of man and woman” that would be used across the state; co-sponsored a bill that restricts access to obscene materials for minors in public libraries and public-school libraries (HB 1239). She favored SB 113, which re-affirms a parent's right to care for and make decisions for his or her child as a fundamental liberty. And she brought the bill that would keep boys out of the girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms in schools and public places and vice versa.

    A Note From Cottonwood Corners

The reddish, variegated quartzites covered a considerable area in the valley of the James River at certain localities above the Missouri River. They were exposed in the bluffs along the river and none were more than twenty or thirty feet in thickness. They have been much worn by water and project above the surface in large square masses, suggesting to one in the distance a village of log houses. The rocks are mostly reddish and flesh-colored quartzites, so compact that the lines of stratification are nearly obliterated. They also appear to be metamorphic (a change affected by pressure, heat, and water resulting in a more compact and highly crystalline rock).
