No special legislative session for food tax repeal

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem said Wednesday she would not call a special legislative session to have lawmakers consider repealing the state’s tax on groceries ahead of the November election, despite calls to do so from a handful of Republican lawmakers as well as her Democratic challenger.

Lions Club donates to the local FFA Gregory County Chapter

The Gregory County Lions Club, represented above by Cindy McCarthy, recently gave a donation to aid the Gregory County FFA Chapter. The donation was done through the Blue Jacket Sponsorship Program. The Gregory County Lions Club donated $270 for sponsorship of three blue jackets, which included an FFA tie or scarf and full shipping direct to the chapter. Five more jackets were purchased from a sponsor who donated them In Memory of Dave Steffen. The Gregory County FFA chapter members receiving blue jackets through the application process this year included Leo Mosterd, Morgan Tietgen, Daytona Paris, and Ava Kerner from Burke and Nick Kenzy, William Sinkular, Aubree Miller, Samantha Parkis, and Lily Jacobsen

Gregory Gorillas finish their regular season with a win over the Bon Homme Cavaliers

Last Friday, the Gregory Gorillas faced the Bon Homme Cavaliers in the last regular season game held at Mike Dacy field. With impressive winning records and talented players on both sides of the ball, the matchup promised to be a battle. After four quarters of hard-fought football, the Gorillas held on to their lead and defeated the Cavs 23-12. The win brought the Gorillas record to 7-1 and landed them third seed for the 9A playoffs.
