Governor Noem successfully treated for back injury at Mayo Clinic

On Monday, September 12, Governor Kristi Noem announced that following several weeks of medical treatment in South Dakota for a back injury, the Governor underwent successful back surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Applications are currently being accepted from South Dakota high school students interested in serving as pages for the 2023 Legislative Session. Pages are appointed to serve in the House of Representatives or the Senate for one of five terms during January, February, and March.

Several road issues dotted the agenda as the Gregory County Board of Commissioners met for their regular meeting at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in the Gregory County Courthouse. One road closure requested Rachelle Norberg presented a petition on behalf of her clients James and Nancy Mittelstaedt to vacate a road in the unorganized township of Rhoades.

The Gregory School District Board of Education met at 5:30 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2022, in the high school conference room. Have ship, will travel Librarian Holly Whitney delivered the “Gorilla Good News,” giving a demonstration of a water compass that students made during one of their library classes.

The City of Gregory will hear public comments September 19th for or against a Tax Increment Financing District. If adopted, the TIF will direct $1.8 million in taxes back into city coffers that would otherwise be shared with the county and Gregory Public School District.

The regular meeting of the Gregory City Council was held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at City Hall. Coffee, coloring, eating, cooking, Legos, discussing - the library has it all Librarian Tara Engel indicated that Lego Club numbers are down because some of the regulars have football practice.
