Medicaid expansion groups join for constitutional amendment

A pair of South Dakota campaigns trying to expand access to Medicaid through the November ballot announced Monday they will join efforts to focus on passing an amendment to the state constitution. The announcement from the two organizations - South Dakotans Decide Healthcare and Dakotans for Health - puts to rest a potential rivalry between the two campaigns.

An audience at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium was treated to the artistry and storytelling talent of hoop dancer Starr Eagle Chief on Friday afternoon, July 15. The presentation was funded by grants the Gregory Public Library received for the summer reading program.

Monday, July 18, 2022, Governor Kristi Noem announced that South Dakota closed the 2022 budget year on June 30 with a surplus of $115.5 million. Total general fund revenue for fiscal year 2022 finished $72.3 million higher than adopted estimates, and the state general fund budget ended with expenses $43.2 million less than budgeted.
