A Canadian perspective I am back after more than two months away, so let’s try to catch up on the chaos of the news. Could anyone have predicted the events of this year back in January? Here are some of my Canadian observations of the new hydrogen wells drilled, likely railroad fuel of the future.

When Dakota Territory was organized in 1861, the typical oneroom school throughout the United States had as its basic curriculum the “three Rs” -- “reading, writing, and arithmetic.” Other subjects were added as settlers moved westward from the Atlantic coast.

Dan Andersson of Burke, a Democrat, has announced that he is running for the South Dakota State Senate from District 21. “America and South Dakota are facing many, many problems, but defending our democracy and individual rights must be our first priority, because those are the foundation of our society. But we must also address our underfunded school system, broken healthcare system, and the escalating gun violence.”

The recycling trailer will again be open for business, starting Thursday, July 28. The committee that makes this trailer available to the Gregory community has issued the following rules for its use.

Current Minnehaha County Commissioner and former telecommunications specialist Jeff Barth announced on July 25 that he will seek a seat on the SD Public Utilities Commission in the upcoming November 8th general election. Barth brings over 16 years of public service as a county commissioner, which provides the experience needed to tackle issues such as carbon dioxide (CO 2) transfer pipelines, utility regulation, and telecommunications expansion.

Chad and Mary Stevicks’ love of collecting toy tractors took a turn at a tractor show 34 years ago and set them on a new path to a more hands-on way to pursue that hobby. The pedal tractor pull at this show was just what Burke needed for their annual threshing bee. Little did they suspect at the time that this yearly event would turn into a 34-year passion that would include 50 tractor pulls every summer, and a leadership position on the National Pedal Pullers Association.
